Our community pre-school
St Marks Pre-school is located in the grounds of an infant,
junior and special school academy, a campus that is based in a residential area
of Salisbury. The pre-school is housed in a single storey terrapin
building that has two classrooms, a small kitchen, office, quiet room, accessible
toilet and nappy change area and a separate room with three children’s toilets
and hand washing facilities. The building is accessed by a ramp to the front
door, once inside the building all rooms are on one level with
wheelchair-friendly doorways.
St Marks Pre-school has a generous outdoor space, which includes
an outdoor classroom, a large playground with a 'Literacy Shed', climb-in sandpit, a mud kitchen, climbing and
large construction materials, e.g. tyres, crates and pallets. The outdoor space
also includes a garden that has 2 living willow dens, a story circle, the beginnings of a sensory
garden, soft fruit bushes, fruit trees as well as raised beds and a poly
tunnel. The garden is accessed by a ramp to and from the front door; the
playground is accessed via steps leading from each classroom but can also be
accessed via the front door ramp and side gate.
We are continuously developing our outdoor space.
